I don't know where this health food store is located, but their staff is
obviously untrained.
Marshmallow Root, although excellent as a nutritive in drying and wasting
diseases, is not listed as, and to my knowledge never has been listed as, a
galactogogue. It is primarily used to soothe inflammations and ulcerations
of the stomach, intestines and kidneys and does have a like effect on the
lungs.
This is just one more example of people being mislead by cashiers who like
to think that they are herbalists. I better stop now as I feel a soapbox
speech coming on.
Anyway, anytime you all have questions about appropriate useage and doseage
of herbs, you are welcome to call or e-mail and ask.
I hope this mom was instructed not to take the marshmallow root, but to
return it to the store of purchase.
