I had a new born @ 2 days come to my office (private practice) about 6
months ago just 6 (six) hours after her discharge from a hospital for help
with her sleepy baby that wouldn't nurse. The baby felt warm! We passed it
off as " hot in the car."
I saw a pediatrician going to his car and asked him to come and look at the
baby. He said she looked "fine." I thought her breathing looked labored
(slight retractions). I told the mom not to let the baby be alone and to
check her temp when she got home. IT WAS 103!!! So, she took her in and it
was LISTERIOSIS. She nursed well all through her ten days in the
hospital.... for what it's worth.
Trust your instincts, girlfriends...
BTW,, I took a job one day a week in a hospital here... what a shock!
