Howdy
Found a great url.In the depresion the WPA sent out many young
folks to gather up family stories all across this country .The library
of Congress has all these stories compiled on a webpage with a
searchable data base to call them up.
I have found many first hand accounts of overland trails
exsperiances on this page and some that where written by the sons and
daughters of these pioneers. Now it does seem that each of the people
interviewed subscibed to the notion that he had to make his trip sound
harder than the last :-)there is still alot of interesting material
here.
You can run into a lot of folk lore and tall tales but also
get a feel of times and some interesting facts about these pioneers.
                      Happy Trails
