The fissure appears to be a slight hairline crack in the centre of
the nipple.  The mother says that milk spurts out of this crack and
doesn't come out of any other pores.  I haven't actually seen this
happen.  The nipple is not reddened, does not appear to be damaged,
is not mis shapen after feeds, just painful, but bearable, on a scale
of 0 to 10, described as a 3.  The mother is still appling the
L.........H equivalent available in Australia and is wearing "tea
strainer" breast shells in between feeds.
