Good Day All,
A co-worker shared a story with me the other day and gave me permission to
share it with all of you.
My co-worker (who is currently nursing a 16 mos son) was assisting at her
sister-in-law's hospital birth. It was a scheduled induction with an epidural
that ended up a c-section. Mom was on quite the chemical coctail and couldn't
get positioned on the gurney properly or stop shaking long enough to nurse.
The attending hospital staff started pushing formula or glucose water as the
baby's blood sugar was "low". My co-worker (with mom's consent of course) told
nurse to give her the baby and she would feed her.
The nurse said what will you feed her glucose water or formula.?? Co-worker
said I will feed the baby from my breast. (the staff was of course very
shocked and looked at the two women as if they were "WACKOS" The baby latched
beautifully, nursed well and is doing very well today with no artifical feeds.
What a wonderful thing for a sister to do !!!
Aids and other issues aside I found this a very inspiring story and thought
y'all would enjoy "hearing" it. : )
