To add to Chris M. very insightful post about this situation: I heard
Kathryn Dewey, RD,PHD at the New Mexico conference and she talked about
infant self regulation based on an infants energy level needs. Perhaps this
baby has very high energy needs and needs frequent small feeds to self
regulate. Of course then you add in moms milk supply and calorie content
and .......Very facinating situation. I worked with a mom/baby like this.
Mom was a doctor. I gave her a sling, Dr.Sears book which talks about
attachment parenting and lots of support.
Linda Smith once called these kids velcro babies.
