Hi All,
Need to pick your brains about toddler weaning. My good friend at WIC (she
is and IBCLC) had read all the literature about weaning (LLL, Guide to
weaning, etc) and is coming up emptyhanded for practical ideas to help her
WIC clients with weaning toddlers 14 mo and older. These moms are saying
that because it is so hard to wean their toddler (esp at night) that they
don't want to BF again if it is going to be this much trouble. What she
needs are ideas and strategies from those who have "been there done that"
and found something that worked. She is planning on having a class for
these moms but needs something that will work for them. Many of these moms
are single mothers with little or no support from family/friends and don't
know what to do to calm down a crying baby at night without offering the
breast, and they don't want to offer the breast anymore.
She has found that many times the moms are responding to the toddlers as if
they are still newborns, so have gotten themselves into a good habit of
dealing with all of lifes ills with the breast. (Not a problem in my
opinion, but they want to stop)

SO any ideas will be greatly appreciated!
Please e-mail privately ([log in to unmask]) and to the list

TIA!
