NABA continues to work closely with Rep Maloney's office to provide needed
materials for the drafting of a bill regarding breastfeeding and the work
place. At this point we are asking for two items:

1. stories from breastfeeding women who have been discriminated against in any
way in the work place. This could be centered around being denied time for
expressing milk, lack of facilities for storing or pumping milk, refusal to
allow mothers to breastfeed their baby when brought to the work place, refusal
of flexibility in scheduling work time, etc.

2. stories of problems with breast pumps that mothers are experiencing.
Problems such as being ineffective, painful, damaging, etc. These stories are
required to demonstrate the need for FDA regulations or guidelines for this
type of equipment.

The above stories are needed to assist Rep. Maloney's office in demonstrating
the need for legislation, regulations and/or policy guidelines. These stories
are also needed so that as media requests are received, the office can refer
the media to the local sources of the discrimination.

There is still no bill number and we are not yet sure of the date the bill
will be introduced. Hopefully, the bill will be introduced the last week of
February or the first week in March. We will keep you informed.

Please forward any information as requested above as soon as possible to Gail
Ravnitzky at Rep Maloney's office.
