But probably, as with most drugs, it is safe, because the maternal
blood levels would be low after the initial peak and only a tiny
amount actually would get into the milk.  If it is being used IV, it
may be (though not necessarily so) it has very low oral availability
which would mean that even the small amount that gets into the milk
would not get into the baby's circulation.  Finally, this sounds like
a one shot deal.  It is extremely unlikely that there would be a
problem for the baby.  Furthermore, the dentist is probably
exaggerating the length for pumping and dumping (argh!), because that
would mean the drug had a half life of about 2.5-5 hours, which is
pretty long for an IV sedative which would be used for a relatively
short dental procedure.  So which is it?  2.5 or 5 hours half life?
