I am happy to report to all of you that breast milk won the science fair
again. Last year one of the children of our lactnuts did a project on the
digestion of milk. Thanks to Dr.Donna Spannus-Martin my son carried that
project one step further and took first place in his class and silver medal
for the over all science fair. He will go to regional fair in April and his
teacher thinks he has a good chance of getting the Gold medal there and going
on to the state finals. We started with the basic vinegar solution added
pepsin then different formulas, cow milk and human milk then heated to 37 C.
Tested with Ninhydrin solution at 30 minute intervals to see how much
digestion took place BREASTMILK was completely digested consistantly at 90
minutes each time, protien hydrosalate, cow milk based formula, soy formula and
the worst was cow milk. At 12 hours most were not yet completely digested.
Thanks to Dr. Spannus-Martin for the help and to you Jack for the original
idea way back when
