Hi all,
Chatted with a mom today who is also an IBCLC. Her baby had a horrid case of
thrush; had tried a lot of things. I had recommended GV; her husband e-mailed
Jack and got all his information on it. She diluted it to 1/2%, applied it
once a day for three days. The thrush went away, but the baby's tongue
swelled up like a strawberry. He couldn't curl it at all, screamed in pain
when she tried to put him to breast. Took 5 days for the tongue to go back to
normal....and then the thrush came back.
Has anyone experienced this? Heard of this as an uncommon/rare side effect?
Mom persevered -- her doc FINALLY put her on Diflucan which cleared it once
and for all, but it took 2 months. The baby is now 6 months and still
nursing; things are finally going smoothly.
Jan Barger, in cool and cloudy Wheaton where they went ahead despite a horrid
thunderstorm (which I wish I could have exported to Florida's east coast), and
had the Chicago fireworks last night.
