I am helping a mother of 6 week old twins (born premature.) The older
and stronger of the two is now nursing well at the breast. The younger
born at 1.8 kls was never breastfed because (SREAM!) the staff said she
was "too weak to nurse." Twin #2 is being fed expressed breastmilk
at this point but won't latch on. Mom is getting tired from bf and
pumping. While I'm happy that twin #2 is at least getting breastmilk
now (kept seeing that UNICEF picture of the mom from Pakistan with the
twins), I would like to be able to get the baby latched so the mom can
get some rest. The baby simply does not understand that the breast is
the source of the milk. She won't even attempt to suckle.
These cases are so frustrating,
