Cultures from all over the world have developed traditions of herbal( and more
recently chemical) galactagogues, anti-galactagogues, and sore nipple
treatments.

 Whether due to cultural factors alone or in response to biological factors
affecting some individuals, such traditional uses of herbs would seem to
reflect a widespread need for such agents in a lot of different cultures.
