We have many multiple births in our institution. Moms pump as usual (10-20
mins) using the hospital grade pump. In most cases they are producing more
than the babies are using. Kangarooing is great and we encourage the moms
often to let the babies attempt some non-nutritive nursing at that time too if
the baby can handle it. Once they start at the breast we encourage the moms to
pump afterward as the babies do not always remove the milk, especially as the
supply is often greater. Once discharged mom can either pump after if that has
been her routine or between whichever works for her. Eventually they do well
on their own in most cases. Hope that helps.
