The twin discussion is great. I've recommended a number of methods of
feeding twins. In one case, one baby had a weaker suck. Mom would feed
each baby on his breast for a couple of days then switch. Baby #1 would
build up a good supply, then be switched to a less full breast. He probably
wondered where all of his efforts had gone. After a couple of weeks she
didn't have to do this anymore, and she switched each Monday for equal L/R
stimulation.
When they got better at latching she fed them together. Benjamin would
finish and come off in about 20 minutes and Mom would take Daniel off too.
Then she discovered that Benjamin was gaining and Daniel wasn't. He needed
a longer time--about 35 mins--to get his hind milk. After letting him feed
until he came off all was resolved.
She said that Benjamin would probably grow up to go to the drive-through and
Daniel would go the the gormet restaurant for a 2-hour repast.
