Could it be part of staff orientation? In the US you can make it a JCAHO
issue: cite standards on planning and organizational support (a systemic
approach to pt ed), implementation (includes pt assessment and teaching
process), and discharge preparation ( includes issues of pt comprehension and
continuing care), and documentation of the organization following pt/family ed
standards.
Included as part of our family centered care staff orientation: attending the
daily breastfeeding class, following the LC on rounds, breast and
breastfeeding assessment and instruction, documentation on the breastfeeding
teaching sheet.
