Hi to all,
A quick introduction. My name is Danielle Vose-Frewer, I am a
Lactation Counselor and Peer counselor Administrator for WIC in Clearwater
Florida. I have been lurking for some time and I thought that I would give
my .02 about nipple piercing. A friend of mine is a RN that does nothing
but piercing now. He says that a nipple piercing takes at least 6 to 8
weeks to heal but shouldn't be removed for extended periods of time within
the first year. If a mom has had her piercing for more than a year then the
chances of it closing are minimal. If a woman is pregnant and is going to
breastfeed then he recommends that she waits on the piercing. He does not
recommend leaving the ring in during nursing or using anything bigger than
a 14 gage ring. I hope that this helps and sorry about the late reply.
