Hi Rene,
There are always more questions than answers with thrush, I find! If the
pain is much better with the Diflucan she has had, then I would suggest she
take nystatin capsules (2 caps 3 X/ day), because Diflucan (fluconazole) is
expensive here in Australia and nystatin cheap. Some people will say that
oral nystatin doesn't work, but I find it does help often.
The lump may just be left-over from the blocked duct/mastitis - sometimes
it takes a couple of weeks for it to resolve. I imagine it is like
scar-tissue in the breast. However, if it stays red or painful, it could be
an abscess developing (this can be diagnosed by diagnostic ultrasound).
I would suggest treating the baby too.
