I got a job as a hospital LC in 1986, purely because I was an RN/ILCLC and
the hospital was terrified of a friend of mine, non-RN IBCLC who was
working with a local ped. They were "afraid" to let her in. I used to
thank her for my job! By the way, she is now a hospital LC for another
hospital in the area. They don't seem to have a problem with her non
RN status, however they tend to pay LC, whether RN or not, less than a
regular staff nurse! Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
