Why couldn't that intern in question have pumped when she was on call?
Sure, it's not optimal, but it keeps you going. Our department is making
an effort to become more "new-mom" friendly by giving pumping breaks (a
la Rep. Maloney's bill), providing a place to do so, etc. whether the
residents are in clinic, on rotation, or on call. We also have the same
policies for our other dept. employees (support staff, etc.).
