Hi Trisha,
There are no fixed rules for treating the baby when the mother has
thrush in the nipples and / or breast. But what I do is always suggest
that the baby is treated for at least one week with a full course of
treatment (here we would use miconazole oral gel or nystatin oral drops
4 times a day), or longer if the baby had any signs of thrush. Then I
would suggest treating the baby once a day, until the mother's pain has
resolved (to prevent the thrush ping-ponging back and forth).
