Hi All,
Coming out of lurkdom to ask...
I'm hoping someone with a less appalling education in physics than yours
truly can please clarify this for me:
When a radioactive substance (such as Technitium-99) "decays" in
approximately 30 hours, does it do so regardless of where it is? ie. In
the ground? In the body? In breastmilk? On pump parts?
Seriously guys - I've had someone (guess which profession?) suggest to a
Mom - not only that she have a T99m scan of thyroid *and* pump and dump
for 48 hours - but that she should discard all bottles, funnels, pump
parts, that the milk touches!
So far I have managed to keep from asking him what he proposes she do
with her *breasts* when this is said and done.
Hope someone out there can reply today (Wednesday) 'cause the procedure
is scheduled for tomorrow AM. Her baby is only 1 year old and still
nursing a few times a day so I wouldn't want to see another "premature
weaning" here;-)
Please cc: my e-mail if possible.
TIA
