ooohhhh -- lots of good posts packed in this digest.

I agree that a 14 month old breastfed child is not "extended breastfeeding."
The WHO recommends two years as a minimum, the AAP one year as a minimum.
My research indicates 2.5 years as a minimum.  Surely anything before that
is premature weaning (whatever the cause), and only nursing beyond 7 should
be considered extended breastfeeding.  ;)
