Terry,
I know where you're coming from! Two of us LC/nurses have been called to meet
with our OB nutritionist Wednesday. Seems she took a look at our "new",
abbreviated handouts on bf (our "old" handout was a 34-page booklet! WAY too
much info for a new mother!) and is concerned that our nutrition info is
"severely lacking". Will let you know what she feels is lacking. In the
meantime, I would love all of your collective feedback (especially from RDs
out there). Our current dietary info mentions the need for extra calories for
nursing moms, that these shouldn't be "empty" calories, that protein &
carbohydrates provide energy & are better for you than increased fat intake.
We include the food pyramid diagram, mention good sources of calcium, &
recommend she drink to thirst. Do any of you find this "severely lacking" in
something?!
TIA,
Carol in St. Louis
