Some people just don't react to contact with poison ivy oils on intact skin.
We have tons of it on our property, and I only get a rash where the skin is
broken (from the *other* vines growing along with the poison ivy, which have
stickers on them -- they scratch the skin, then the poison ivy oil gets
through the skin). If I don't get scratched, then I don't get poison ivy
rash. I also never get poison oak rashes, even when everyone else on the
camping trip is covered with it, and we all walked through the same bushes.
