Hello All,
This is a response to the discussion about a BF baby with allergy,
and advice for the mother to go off cow's milk and dairy. If I recall,
Soy in maternal diet was also a problem.
What about having the baby tested with both skin prick test and
cytology? It would mark good sense to find out what the BABY is
actually sensitive to, and THEN the mother can be advised to go off the
APPROPRIATE things, rather than just go by trial and error. A recent
paper (I don't have the reference beside me) did just this with a small
group of BF babies with multiple allergies, and some had 2-4 substances
they reacted to. Some of the others (from memory) were apples and fish,
but this is not a complete list.
I hope this helps,
Virginia Thorley, IBCLC (Lact. cons.)
