Hi! This is my 2nd post and I'm still not real sure of the workings
of the www and lactnet. I'm working with a mom who is pumping
breastmilk at the request of the neonatologist. Her baby was
delivered at appx. 34 wks gest. with very little prenatal care. The
baby is very anemic with an enlarged spleen and "blueberry spots"(CMV
neg) There is a probability this baby is positive for parvo virus.
The NICU has asked about the feeding of EBM if the mom is positive.
My thoughts are that the mom may be building antibidies against
whatever this baby my be infected with so the breastmilk is the best
option. Does anyone have any references on parvo and breastfeeding or
any other thoughts concerning this mom/baby. There is no diagnosis at
the time, however the baby seems to be better today--he is 8 days old.
Thanks in advance--email me directly at [log in to unmask]
