Heard Dr. Edell (radio talk show doctor) this afternoon in the car. A
woman called in to ask about breastfeeding of an adoptive baby (due 30
Jan). She mentioned that she had already met with a lactation
consultant and had a few questions for the doctor.

He commended her on planning to breastfeed her baby, that is was a
wonderful thing and applauded her for "going to the people who really
know about these things...lactation consultants and La Leche".

His suggestions were really on the mark, although I think they both got
confused about a drug recommendation in the book. He cautioned her that
she more than likely would not be able to bring in a full enough supply
to get by without supplementing "either with breastmilk or formula", but
that that really didn't matter because the act of breastfeeding itself
was so important.

Kudos to Dr. Edell!

Kathy
