My observation of "missed epidurals" or ones that are backed up with a
hefty dose is that the dysfunctional suck goes on for a fairly long time.
My experience has been 12-18 days of alternative feeding until kid finally
figures out how to BF. Sometimes a shield helps in transition from finger
feeding or cup feeding to breast. I think what we are seeing here is a
baby who gets a high dose of the epidural med. Just because it "missed"
the epidural space doesn't mean it missed mom's body. It's there and it's
circulating straight to baby in utero. My .02 cents worth. Sincerely, Pat
