Hello,
I have searched the archives for information on goat's rue as a
galactologue but haven't found anything. I heard from 2 LC friends that
some of their clients had great success with it and, when I was in need
of something to boost my supply after minimal success with fenugreek,
tried it myself. After a couple of days, the amount of milk I was
pumping at work doubled from 2 to 4 ounces per pumping (I work nights
and pump twice in a 12-hour shift). I searched the internet for more
information on goat's rue, and this is what I came up with. The
botanical name is Galega Officinalis or Galega Virginiana. It is also
known as French Lilac. It was first used as a galactologue by French
dairy farmers, who noted a 35-50% increase in their cow's milk output.
It is also listed as a diaphoretic, a hypoglycemic and an anthelmintic.
I found this information from Botanical.com and from Healthworld
online. The recommended dosage of the tincture is 1-2ml 3X/day. I
added it to some hot tea and could not taste it at all. I also did not
notice any extra sweating or feel any symptoms of a drop in blood
sugar. I only use it once or twice a month when my supply seems to be
dwindling, usually after my 3-day work marathon of 12-hour night shifts
in L&D, then I have 11 days off and my milk production is back on track.
Does anyone else have any more info. or experience with goat's rue? I
was amazed with the results and would like to know more about it.
