AT the 1997 ILCA Conference general session, Judy Hopkinson, PhD, looked
at many of the osteoporosis studies and said there were various studies,
varied results and many confounding factors (ie. which bones were
examined/ measured in the study, exercise levels of the women studied,
point in time when bones are measured). Her conclusions were that
breastfeeding was not a risk factor to a woman for osteoporosis and MAY
be protective.
