Hi everybody:
I have been assigned to read The Secret Teachings of Jesus, translated by
Marvin Meyer. These 4 Gnostic gospels were stored in sealed storage jars
buried in Egypt and discovered in 1945. They are called the Nag Hammadi
manuscripts, and give a clear view of the Gnostics, who were a group of
Christians whose teachings didn't make into our present day bible. In the
Gospel of Thomas, Jesus says several things that I know will interest
everybody. Saying 22: "Jesus saw some babies nursing. He said to his
disciples, 'These nursing babies are like those who enter the kingdom.' "
Saying 53: "His disciples said to him,' Is circumcision useful or not?' He
said to them,' If it were useful, a father would produce children already
circumcised from their mother. Rather, true, spiritual circumcision is useful
in every respect.'" Warmly, Nikki
