Just a FYI on the scabies thing. When my youngest, now 8 months was 1 month,
the 3 year old was diagnosed with scabies. We went ahead and treated everyone
for it, with a wonderful pro-breastfeeding pediatrician's blessing. I
applied it very lightly on the baby and everyone was fine. I felt weaning her
for any period of time would be worse than any other risk.
There again, this is personal experience.
