Hello,
Usually women with hyperprolactinemia due to a prolactinoma (pituitary
tumor of the part of the pituitary gland responsible for prolactin formation
and release) who are on parlodel can nurse their babies fine even on parlodel.
Their levels of prolactin are so high they actually augment lactation not
hinder it. Her problems I assume were in becoming pregnant due to the
hyperprolactinemia which is the equivalent of lactational ammenorrhea the
etiology is different but the physiology is the same, high prolactin levels
suppress ovulation. References on this can be found in the book by Ruth
Lawrence, BF a guide for the medical professional.

                                                     Sincerely,

                                                     Cynthia S. Marske DO
