Whew! Just got caught up on Lactnet after a few days out of town and
obviously a very, very busy Lactnet week.I have several things to respond
to, even though I hardly ever post.
I was at a meeting with Marianne Neifert Wednesday afternoon (Dec 3). I
don't think she would mind my passing on a couple of her comments.
Marianne gets interviewed frequently by various media types and is well
aware that it is always a gamble. She mentioned as an example a 1/2 hour
+ interview, including a some sharing of personal breastfeeding
experiences by Marianne and the interviewer. The interview yielded a very
short article which skewed things terribly; All based on a brief personal
discussion tangent to the interview.
With that preface she said she was fairly pleased with the NPR interview.
She did point out with a sigh the confusion with breastfeeding/formula
during the second 6 months that came not from quotes but from editorial
copy. Basically, be grateful for the good that did come from it.
Overall, there was a great deal of excitement that this long awaited
position was announced.
