Danielle,
I wanted to help you a little with this question. The first thing
that comes to my mind is if the Dr. believes this baby has a problem
with breastmilk protein, why did he prescribe that ABM that starts
with an A? Many babies have unexplained blood in the stool that often
corrects itself with no apparent reason. In my experience something the
mother is eating can be the cause of this and be easily corrected with
elimination. It is curious that the baby seems to be healthy and
gaining weight well, but Dr. still felt an urgency to discontinue
bfing without trying alternatives first. Doctor has given interesting
information, does he have references to back up his treatment? Maybe
mother will want to get a second opinion of a breastfeeding friendly Dr..
