I'd like to introduce myself and ask the group a question. I am the
mother of 2 breastfed children, an RN, and an IBCLC (since 1985) in private
practice. Any tips for a 42 yr old mother still able to express drops of
milk/greenish secretions from one breast 4 yrs after weaning? No relat. to
menstrual cycle. No hx br. dis. or injury. No meds or vits. Breast exam,
mammogram, cytology, guaiac all normal/negative. Surgeon found a possible
slight widening in one duct on ultrasound, said may be very small growth or
nothing, but advised biopsy. Mother ? relationship to normal involution of
breast. Had drops of milk 1 1/2 yrs after wng. her first and before this
child was born. Had drops of white-gold milk first 3 yrs after weaning this
child. Milk was never spontaneous, tho', had to express to see it. Wonder
if best suggestion for now is don't express and recheck in 1-2 months?
Surgeon didn't feel biopsy was urgent and admitted scarring from biopsy would
make site more difficult to check in the future.
