I agree with the poster who said "get in contact with someone
knowledgable about breastfeeding, including..." - there are a range of
people who can be helpful.  But I also agree with many of the posters
who note that support and accurate information doesn't  always come from
hospitals - and I live in the medical mecca of Boston.  Some hospitals
and HMOs have wonderful support - but not all, and even those who have
it don't always make it readily accessible.  Few L&D nurses that I or my
clients have encountered have had really solid breastfeeding
information, and some offer information that is downright harmful.  Many
of the suburban hospitals here have an L&D nurse on staff that she or
the hospital labels as an LC, and they are rarely as well-trained as an
experienced LLL leader.

I'm glad the original poster lives in an area where the hospital
information/program is strong, but it's certainly not a generalization I
would make about the care women get in this area.
