Folks,
"This Morning", a CBS news program, did almost 4 minutes about
breastfeeding in today's show. They had a doctor do most of the talking. She
clearly explained some of the many benefits of breastfeeding, emphasizing the
benefits to brain development as demonstrated in the New Zealand study that
came out last week. The AAP guidelines ("at least 12 months" ... "bf within
the first hours after birth" .... " bf newborns whenever they indicate hunger")
were discussed. In response to a question about difficulties, the doctor spoke
of the "lost art" of bf, of the importance of lactation consultants, and
actually demonstrated, using a realistic newborn doll, how a baby's whole body
should fact the mother's chest. All in all, a truly wonderful bit of PR for
bf.
Now for the bad news. You need to use a piece of paper, an envelope, and a
stamp to send your praise, as CBS has not yet set up a system for receiving
