Just my .02 on this. In Vietnamese culture, it is common to prechew food
for babies. I myself adopted this. As far as kissing is concerned,
typically, Vietnamese do not kiss with their lips. They sniff you. It
is kind of hard to explain. They just grab you and sniff all over your
face----not like a dog. I know I am not doing this justice. I have
adopted this as well. I actually prefer it. It does seem to be more
loving. My Vietnamese grandmother does this to me everytime I see her,
and it is a wonderful, loving and warm feeling. Husbands and wives do
this too, and it means just as much, maybe more than kissing. I also
notice that the Vietnamese equate food with love too. Everytime we go to
my in-laws, we all need to eat!
