Hi! This is my 2nd post and I'm no real sure of the workings of the
www and lactnet. I'm working with a mom who is pumping breastmilk at
the request of the neonatologist. Her baby was delivered at appx
34wks gest. with very little prenatal care. The baby is very anemic
and thrombocytopenic with an enlarged spleen and "blueberry spots"
(CMV-TORCH/neg). There is a probability the baby is positive for
parvo virus. The NICU has asked about the feeding of EBM if the mom
is positive for parvo. My thoughts are that the mom may be building
antibodies against whatever this baby my be infected with so
breastmilk is the best option. I have been researching human parvo in
neonates and pregnant women and have found very little. Does anyone
have any thoughts or references? The baby has been transferred to a
level 3 NICU, but I am still very eager to get your thoughts. Thanks
in advance. Please E-Mail me at [log in to unmask]
