WABA has the following information on a hand-out on 8 steps to ensure that
conferences are Baby Friendly.

Our conference complies with these criteria:
1. Child care facilities are provided for breastfeeding women
2. No money from the baby food industry is accepted to organize, provide
speakers or sponsor conferences or speakers.
3. No hospitality is accepted from the baby food industry for organisers
or conference participants
4. No signs at the conference site inviting conference participants to
hospitality suites outside the venue.
5. No advertisements for any baby foods, formula, bottles or teats in
conference materials, including brochures, programmes and journals.
6. The list of conference participants is not sold to baby food industry
nor allowed to be used by it.
7. No displays or other means of promotion of baby foods, formula, bottles
or teats at the conference site.
8. Products not covered by the International Code of Marketing of
Breastmilk Substitutes may be exhibited at the conference, provided the
manufacturers or suppliers have signed an agreement to that effect with the
organizers and allow review and monitoring of their materials and handouts
during the conference.
*Baby food industry includes formula and bottle and teat companies.
Developed by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action ( WABA) July 1994.

My comments - ensure that breast pump companies comply with step #7 and #8
The organizers have a great deal of power in modeling support for
breastfeeding women at the conference
We also need to model support for not providing free samples for commercial
advertising - the issue of accepting products as healthcare professionals,
even when the products are Code compliant, needs to be addressed at every
level.
