dear santa claus,
i have really been a good girl this year. i have tried hard to help mothers
breastfeed their children, and have tried really hard to not beat up the ones
that won't. i have managed to convince my little daughter that bottles are bad
unless they have breastmilk in them, and have helped mothers learn to use
slings that they didn't even buy from me! so please, give me everything i want
for christmas! my list really isn't THAT long:
- i want the new model hcp doll that knows as much about bf as dr. jack, dr.
hale, and dr. gartner all rolled into one
- i want every mother to have an uneventful birth followed by immediate
breastfeeding
- i want every person attending a new mother to say, "I'm so glad you're
breastfeeding!" - every single time they see her
- i want all children to turn to their mothers to nurse whenever they are sad,
afraid, bored, angry, or hurt, and to not seek comfort in inanimate objects
such as toys or blankets
- i want to never see another needy one-year-old with haunted eyes and a thumb
in his or her desperate mouth
- i want to see a medical journal article describing "how far we've come since
the bad old days of formula feeding of infants"
- i want dolls that lactate not urinate
- i want a new bed in the "family bed" size
- i want every woman to have the help of a lactnut
and santa, most important of all, i want a special gift of strength and
compassion for all the wonderful people on lactnet who teach me something new
every day. make all their cases success stories, and help all of us to
continue helping babies everywhere. remember, santa, that would be the best
possible gift for each baby.
love ya saint nick,
carol b.
