LACTNETters> Someone having trouble getting onto Lactnet posted this query
to me to pass on to you. She needs to hear from you PRIVATELY. She is NOT
YET ON LACTNET.
HELP, This is concerning a mother and her 2 week old baby. It is her 3rd
child, she is a LLL and had problems with breastfeeding her two others due
to prematurity but with perseverance she successfully breastfed. This baby
was 39 weeks, latched on right after delivery, the problem is the baby has
an ineffective suck. She is doing the suck retraining in the breastfeeding
answer book, pumping and finger feeding, after attempting to breastfeed.
At night she is using an medela orthodontic nipple, because she feels she
just too tired to finger feed at night. In an assessment of the newborns
mouth when the finger is on the hard palate the baby suck is satisfactory
but when you move the finger close to the soft palate the baby starts to
chew. Can anybody enlighten me in regards to cranio-sacral therapy. Would
this be effective for this problem. Oh yes we have tried supplementary
nursing system also.
Anxiously waiting for a reply,
