Seems to me that certain companies have been brainstorming to find a market
niche now that breastfeeding, LCs, LLLI, NMAA, BFHI and WHO are having
greater success. Shock, horror! Imagine being able to feed a baby for at
least 6 months WITHOUT BUYING ANYTHING TO HELP!
Symptomatic of this are the new creams and lotions, pills and potions being
marketed by all and sundry.
We need to be very careful. Babies, in my experience like the smell of
their mother and variations on a theme are sometimes the cause of breast
refusal. If wearing a different perfume, or changing soaps can cause breast
refusal, putting cabbage and peppermint smelling stuff on the breast should
be a recipe for disaster!
