I am a very visual person and use a very hand on approach in the
hospital . I hold moms baby and show her exactly how to hold him by
demonstration and then assist her in getting baby there in the right
position, I often place a hand behind baby's neck to held guide him to
the breast, I also pull baby's chin down to help him open wider . I have
never had a mom yet to protest or seem to feel uncomfortable with all
this hands on stuff, I am usually on a chair right beside mom , or
leaning over her or sometimes I even sit on the bed with her... whatever
works.
