CONGRATULATIONS to the American Academy of Pediatrics for their new policy
statement "Breastfeeding and the Use of Human Milk" that just appeared in
the Dec. 1997 issue of Pediatics. It is also posted on the AAP web site
http://www.aap.org/policy/re9729.html.

Hats off to Drs. Larry Gartner, Linda Black, Antoinette Eaton (from
OHIO!!!), Ruth Lawrence, Audrey Naylor, Marianne Neifert, Donna O'Hare and
Richard Shanler for their hard work and especially the meticulous list of
111 references!

I was pleased to see that many of the citations have appeared in my
FactPacks. I spent all day in the local medical school library finishing
the reseearch for FactPack6 (which will appear soon as the 1998
FactCalendar) and found some nifty new "diseases" linked to artificial
feeding, some of which were mentioned on Lactnet. Thanks for the ideas!
