Norma asked for my references to support the notion that any unused milk in
a sucked bottle should be discarded within an hour. Well, you've got me!
Can I find where I've seen this?? The new Breastfeeding Answer Book, p 2l5
says, "Research has not yet been done to determine if it is safe to give a
baby milk that was leftover from a previous feeding or milk that was
previously warmed but not used." The nearest I can find is from "Mother's
Own Milk: Guidelines for Storage and Handling", JHL 8(3), 1992 p 160, "If
milk is left in a bottle after a feeding, it should be discarded because
bacteria from the baby's saliva can grow in it." Nothing about an hour.
Sorry Norma. Can anyone else help me out?
