I've been reading all the posts on this sitcom, and listening to my
children, who during the show, had both been yelling at the screen, "Just
go in and pick her up, you idiots!!!" I myself didn't watch. I sat in front
of my computer in the next room listenning to my children's exasperation!

My oldest (16 in a month) asked me what I thought. I reminded her of her
own words in regard to our parenting of her, "I'm the oldest... you know,
the learning experience. My sister, however, enjoys the fruits of the
education I provided them!"

Maybe Jamie and Paul will learn. I hope so. It is sad to see this method of
dealing with babies perpetuated on national TV, though. Perhaps the story
line will include something indicating that they do answer Mabel's needs
now - that they were wrong to ignore her cries.

BTW, my sage oldest child slept through the night at 3 -4 weeks through NO
intervention on her parents' part. Our second didn't sleep through the
night till she was 3.5 YEARS!!!

Margaret Ann - who still doesn't sleep through the night herself!
