I need some words of wisdom. Boy born 38 wks on 1/28 8# 10.
Discharged from hospital on 29th. 2/5 bili was 21.4 at Dr office.
Admitted to hospital taken off BF & put on Prosobee & under lights.
Bili was 25 at midnight, then 21.2 at 3:30 am, then 19.4 at 6:30am.
Given all sorts of tests which came back normal. 2/7 bili was 16.9,
2/8 bili was 13.5 at 4am. Mom resumed breastfeeding at noon. 2/9
still under lights & BF bili was 11.2. Baby DC at noon. 2/10 bili at
Dr. was 9.9 On 2/23 bili was 10.9 & Dr wants mom to discontinue BF
for a week to rule out breastmilk jaundice. Breastfeeding is just now
beginning to be working well for mom & baby. He weighs 9#11 oz.
Because of insurance, mom can't change pediatricians. What can she ask
pediatrician? From what I read in Lawrence, this isn't a high bili.
Warmly,
Sylvia Boyd, CLE, PT, ACCE
